One of our favorite company traditions is the 4moms holiday decorating contest. Every year, each of our departments team up to decorate the common entrance area on their floor. Each group has 2 weeks to create their holiday-inspired area and the entire company votes for their favorite at our annual holiday party. The prize? Bragging rights for an entire year and a pretty spectacular trophy.
We’ll walk you through each floor and then you tell us which one you would vote for. Here we go!
Engineering – Star Wars
When you think of the holidays, what’s the first thing that comes to your mind? If you said Star Wars, you’ll think this floor was awesome. A little untraditional, but the Engineers did a great job of incorporating elements of the iconic movies into a holiday-themed display. Light sabers flashed to the Imperial March, AT-AT walkers dressed up as reindeer, and the Millennium Falcon suspended in the atrium made this floor a sight to see! There was even a hologram playing the movies! The Force is strong with 4moms.
Watch out when you step off the elevator on this floor – as usual, our IT & Supply Chain teams were up to no good. They booby-trapped the entire floor – Kevin McCallister style. Ornaments were crushed to jab unsuspecting feet, matchbox cars were laid for maximum slippage, and faux flames heated every doorknob. The final touch was the table set for Kevin’s macaroni and cheese dinner. We’re ready for you, Harry and Marv!
Sales, Marketing, Software, Finance & Exec Team – A Jurassic Holiday
Definitely the most eclectic theme, this team took the holidays back to the Mesozoic Era. Highlights included inflatable dinosaurs in Santa hats, a painted Stegosaurus menorah, and a smoking volcano! Watch out for the Santasaurus!
Design – Elf
Pass through the 7 levels of the Candy Cane Forest, through the seas of the Swirly Twirly Gumdrops and then walk through the Lincoln Tunnel and you’ll arrive in the main lobby at 4moms (well, sort of). The Design team went all out this year with a life-size Buddy the Elf costume, handmade candy canes, famous movie quotes painted on all of the glass walls, and a beautiful New York skyline. A real Buddy the Elf even dropped by the front desk to greet visitors! “Santa! I KNOW him”!
That’s the end of our tour. What did you think? Which was your favorite?
